The BAND would like to pay tribute to our dear friend Paul Clarke who passed away recently after a series of illnesses. He was a great trombone player, it was his first love really and at his happiest with a trombone in his hand and colleagues with whom he could play. Paul had been principle trombonist for the Royal Signals Band and then played around the world on cruise ships until being more available locally. He often came to practice at one time and conducted rehearsals and concerts and this photo comes from when he conducted the

band in Chapelfield gardens a few years ago and before he was so ill. Paul was often travelling to play with other bands filling in easily as he had so much talent and when conducting us would just say “Enjoy it”, which was his whole ethos to music. He made it all look so easy. Paul played with our musical director Joe in an Oompah band performing at military establishments around the country. He was fun to be with and below he is conducting the band when we played in Lowestoft to celebrate the opening of the Take Note Music shop.  Paul was so happy to support when he could and do all he could to promote music and in particular the trombone. We wish his family well at this sad time.
